Hong Kong ICH Month 2025

The Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Office will organise the inaugural “Hong Kong ICH Month” 〔read more〕this June, which highlights “ICH Around Town”, conveying that ICH is found throughout this small territory. This initiative aims to give the public and tourists a greater insight into ICH, and enable them to feel for themselves the cultural essence of ICH and the pleasure it brings.

The “Movable Type Printing Technique” was added to the “Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory of Hong Kong” in 2014. Once a dominant printing medium in Hong Kong, it supported the city’s thriving economy from the 1960s to the 1980s. Though it has declined over time, movable type printing remains a significant part of the city’s cultural heritage, reflecting past livelihoods.
