Yoonmi Nam: Arranged Flowers

2024

Arranged Flowers features the work of Yoonmi Nam. In her prints, the containers that hold flowers are disposable objects, such as a yoghurt cup, a Styrofoam take-out box, and an instant noodle bowl. These throwaway objects and cut flowers engage in a dialogue that speaks about impermanence and persistence. In her research and creative work as a professor in the Department of Visual Art at the University of Kansas, Yoonmi draws on her Korean background, investigating the contemporary visual language of traditional Mokuhanga and Korean green-glazed celadon in the context of modern global consumer culture.
